Training - Coaching - Shopping - Clinics





Santerre Show Stables offers training for all levels and ages of hunter/jumper horses; we are experienced with young  and problem horses, as well as with finished horses up to the Grand Prix level.

Jean-François Santerre offers coaching to motivated riders who want to improve  their performance in the hunter/jumper rings.
He is available for coaching and training in the Lower Mainland of BC, as well at designated shows across North America.


Santerre Show Stables also has extensive experience in the buying and selling of top quality sport horses. We are able to help
you buy or sell your horse within North America as well as plan custom trips to Europe to find your perfect match!


 
Full Training and Board -$1,350/month

  - Full Board
       - Daily Stall and Paddock cleaning
       - Daily turn-out (if weather permits)
       - Hand walked when the horses don't go out or weren't  
       ridden
       - Fed three times/day
       - Blanket management

  - Full-Time Training
       - A minimum of five contacts, approximately 1 hour long,
       per week with our head trainer (either lessons or training
       rides)
       - Complete horse management (Feeding program, Vet,
       Blacksmith, Transportation etc.)

  - Advanced Grooming

       - Preparing and putting away the horse before/after
       training rides
       - Daily brushing and hoof care
       - Basic clipping (whiskers, bridle path, coronet band)
       - Bathing

Basic Training and Board - $1,075/month

 - Full Board
       - Daily Stall and Paddock cleaning
       - Daily turn-out (if weather permits)
       - Hand walked when the horses don't go out and weren't ridden
       - Fed three times/day
       - Blanket management


  - Partial Training

       - Two contacts, approximately 1 hour long, per week with  
       our head trainer (either lessons or training rides)
       - Basic horse management (we establish and suggest a plan for you
       to follow with your horse )


  - Basic Grooming
       - Preparing and putting away the horse before/after training rides
       - Cleaning of the hooves and legs when the horse comes from
       outside


Single Lessons or Training Rides - starting at $40

  - Private Lesson with our head trainer
      $50 (on your horse) /$60(on one of our horses)
        - A soft and efficient approach aimed towards improving the
        performance of the horse and rider

        - Lesson or Training Ride
        - Approximately 1 hour

  - Group Lesson with our head trainer
      $40
(on your horse) / $50 (on one of our horse)
        - We match you with someone of your caliber to promote to
        continue moving forward

        - Maximum 3 peoples in the lessons
        - Approximately 1 hour
 
Traveling Fees - call for prices

   - Off site lessons and training rides
          - Must have access to a safe and properly facilitated training area

    - No charge for students in Langley area

These fees can be shared between clients and will be void when there are 3+ clients per off site session
Horse Show Fees - starting at $30/day

- For clients in full-time training
    
$30/day

        - Preparing the horse and rider for their class(es) 
         according to their needs

        - An experienced groom will feed, clean the horse's
        stall and tack him up and bring the horse to the
        ring for the class

  - For the clients not in full time training
     $90 / day

        - Preparing the horse and rider for their class(es)
        according to their needs

        - An experienced groom will feed, clean the horse's
        stall and tack him up and bring the horse to the
        ring for the  class


  -Trainer/Groom's hotel - Shared  
    between clients on a per horse basis

       - We always try to get the best deal in order to keep
       the cost of competitions lower.

 
  - Grooming stalls and tack room 
     Shared between clients on a per horse
     basis

       - When possible, we will use the aisles to get the
       horses ready in an effort to reduce show costs


  -Transportation - varies on distances
       - We search for shippers with the best options
       (safety & comfort for the horse & cost) to ship you
       horse to the destination

       - Our new 4 horse, head to head goose neck trailer provides a
       comfortable atmosphere for the horses on long trips


  - Riding at the show
    - Regular Classes
        - included for clients in full-time training
        - $50 for clients that are not in full-time training

    - Classes offering over $1999 in Prize Money
        - 10% of earnings or $50 dollar fee (which ever is
        greater) for all customers.
 Horse Dealing - 10% + Expenses

  - Horse Selling
       - Appraisal of the horse
       - Establishing a selling strategy
       - Promoting your horse on our network in the industry
       - Showing your horse to potential buyers
       - Negotiating with potential buyers on your behalf
       - Supervising the vetting of your horse
       - Closing the sale


  - Horse Buying
       - Establishing your needs
       - Establishing a realistic budget according to your needs
       - Contacting our large network in Europe, Argentina, & North
       America to see what is currently available within your
       budget
       - Pre-evaluating the horses via videos and descriptions
       provided by the sellers

       - Looking for proof of performance (show and/or
       approval results, papers, impression of the horse in the
       community etc.)
       - Traveling to go see the horse (Europe, Argentina, or
       North America)
       - Arranging Flights, Car rentals, Hotels, and showing
       schedules
       - Looking at the horse perform live to have a face to face
       over view
       - Personally ride the horse to have a feel for its ability
       - Supervise when you ride the horse and give you our
       impressions
       - Negotiating with the buyer on you behalf
       - Supervise during the vetting of the selected horse
       - Closing the deal
       - Arranging transportation to your stable


Grooming Services - by an experienced groom

- Basic Grooming - $10
       - Complete brushing of the horse
       - Hoof care

  - Bathing - $15
    - Full body, including mane and tail, with soap and warm water

  - Tidy-up Grooming - $40
      - Clipping of whiskers, bridle path, and coronet band
      - Mane pulling
      - Tail trimming
      - We provide equipment

 - Full Body Clipping - $120
       - Clipping the horse from head to hoof (saddle patch is
       optional)
       - We provide equipment
      
  - Sheath Cleaning - $25
       - Deep cleaning of the horse's sheath
